This blog offers additional materials that relate to the matters discussed in my book Alternating Narratives in Fiction for Young Readers: Twice Upon a Time, published by Palgrave Macmillan in 2017. The book discusses the structural, educational, and ideological implications of novels for young readers which contain fragments of narrative in juxtaposition with each other. It explores a range of novels for children and young adults originally published in the US, the UK, Canada, and Australia. But in process of working on the book, I read and thought about many more novels with alternating narratives than the ones actually discussed in the finished book. What you’ll find here, then, are discussions of a range of novels that ended up on the cutting room floor.
